Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 8:830

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Ajlan, from ‘Abdullah bin Salamah—or from ‘Abdullah bin Abi Salamah—he said: Sa‘d bin Abi Waqqas heard a man saying, "Labbayka Dha al-Ma‘arij" (At Your service, O Possessor of the Ascending Stairways). Sa‘d said: "Labbayka Dha al-Ma‘arij? He is indeed the Possessor of the Ascending Stairways, but this was not said during the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."
