Hadith 8:84
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Al-Thaqafi narrated to us, from Yahya bin Sa’id, he said: Muhammad bin Ibrahim informed me that Rabi’ah bin ‘Abdullah bin al-Hudayr informed him that he saw Ibn ‘Abbas while he was the governor of Basra during the time of ‘Ali bin Abi Talib, stripped of his clothes upon the pulpit of Basra. He asked the people about him, and they said: "He ordered his sacrificial animal to be garlanded, and for that reason, he stripped." I then met Ibn al-Zubayr and mentioned that to him, and he said: "An innovation, by the Lord of the Ka’bah."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال ثنا الثقفي عن يحيى بن سعيد قال أخبرني محمد بن إبراهيم أن ربيعة بن عبد الله بن الهدير أخبره أنه رأى بن عباس وهو أمير على البصرة في زمان علي بن أبي طالب متجردا على منبر البصرة فسأل الناس عنه فقالوا إنه أمر بهديه أن يقلد فلذلك تجرد فلقيت بن الزبير فذكرت ذلك له فقال بدعة ورب الكعبة
