Hadith 31:13
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Umm al-Darda’, from Abu al-Darda’, who said: Hunger will be cast upon the people of the Fire until it equals the torment they are in. He said: So they will call for help, and they will be helped with *al-dari’* (a thorny plant), which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. Then they will call for help, and they will be helped with food that causes choking. They will remember that they used to swallow down choking food with drink, so they will call for help, and they will be helped with water from a boiling spring, in iron hooks. When they bring it near their faces, it will roast their faces, and when they introduce it into their bellies, it will cut what is in their bellies. He said: Then they will call out, "Call upon your Lord to lighten for us one day from the punishment." He said: They will be answered, "Did your messengers not come to you with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will say, "Then call [yourselves], and the supplication of the disbelievers is not but in error." He said: Then they will say, "Call Malik." So they will call out, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us." He said: He will answer them, "Indeed, you are to remain." He said: Then they will say, "Call upon your Lord, for there is nothing more merciful to you than your Lord." He said: They will say, "Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to sin], then indeed we would be wrongdoers." He said: He will answer them, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me." He said: At that point, they will despair of all good, and they will begin to wail, gasp, and lament.
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن الأعمش عن عمرو بن مرة عن شهر بن حوشب عن أم الدرداء عن أبي الدرداء قال يلقى على أهل النار الجوع حتى يعدل عنهم ما هم فيه من العذاب قال فيستغيثون فيغاثون بالضريع لا يسمن ولا يغني من جوع فيستغيثون فيغاثون بطعام ذي غصة فيذكرون أنهم كانوا يجيزون الغصص بالشراب فيستغيثون فيغاثون بماء من حميم في كلاليب من حديد فاذا أدنوه إلي وجوههم شوى وجوههم فاذا أدخلوه بطونهم قطع ما في بطونهم قال فينادون @QB@ ادعوا ربكم يخفف عنا يوما من العذاب @QE@ قال فيجابون @QB@ قالوا أولم تك تأتيكم رسلكم بالبينات قالوا بلى قالوا فادعوا وما دعاء الكافرين إلا في ضلال @QE@ 1 قال فيقولون نادوا مالكا فينادون @QB@ يا مالك ليقض علينا ربك @QE@ قال فأجابهم @QB@ إنكم ماكثون @QE@ 2 قال فيقولون ادعوا ربكم فلا شيء أرحم بكم من ربكم قال فيقولون @QB@ ربنا أخرجنا منها فإن عدنا فإنا ظالمون @QE@ قال فيجيبهم @QB@ اخسؤوا فيها ولا تكلمون @QE@ ( 3 ) قال فعند ذلك يئسوا من كل خير ويأخذون في الويل والشهيق والثبور
