Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 31:42

Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Harith, from al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, that he said to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Your uncle Abu Talib used to protect you and become angry for your sake." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "He is in a shallow part of the Fire, and were it not for me, he would have been in the lowest depth."
