Hadith 31:67
Affan ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Al-Azraq ibn Qays narrated to us, he said: A man from Banu Tamim narrated to me, he said: We were with Abu al-Awwam, and he recited this verse: "Nineteen." He said: "What do you say? Is it nineteen thousand angels or nineteen angels?" I said: "No, rather nineteen angels." He said: "And from where do you know that?" I said: "Because Allah says: 'And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve.'" He said: "You have spoken the truth. In the hand of every angel is a mace of iron with two prongs. He strikes a single blow with it, and he falls by it seventy thousand [years]. The distance between the shoulders of each one of them is such and such a journey."
حدثنا عفان بن مسلم قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال حدثنا الأزرق بن خنيس قال حدثني رجل من بني تميم قال كنا عند أبي العوام فقرأ هذه الآية @QB@ تسعة عشر @QE@ 2 فقال ما تقولون أتسعة عشر ألف ملك أو تسعة عشر ملكا قال فقلت لا بل تسعة عشر ملكا قال ومن أين تعلم ذلك فقلت لأن الله يقول @QB@ وما جعلنا عدتهم إلا فتنة للذين كفروا @QE@ 3 قال صدقت بيد كل ملك مرزبة من حديد لها شعبتان فيضرب الضربة فهوى بها سبعين ألف ما بين منكبي كل ملك منهم مسيرة كذا وكذا
