Hadith 31:76
'Abd al-A'la ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: 'Ubayd Allah ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, from Sulayman ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Atwari—the grandfather of the Banu Layth, who was under the guardianship of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri—from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: I heard him say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: "The Bridge (al-Sirat) will be placed between the two sides of Hell. Upon it will be hooks like the thorns of the Sa'dan (a thorny plant). Then the people will pass over it; some will be saved and safe, some will be lacerated and then saved, some will be held back and then saved, and some will be cast headlong into it. When Allah finishes the judgment between the servants, the believers will miss men who were with them in the world; they used to perform their prayers, pay their Zakat, observe their fasting, perform their Hajj, and participate in their military expeditions. They will say: 'O our Lord, servants from among Your servants were with us in the world; they used to pray our prayers, pay our Zakat, observe our fasting, and participate in our expeditions, but we do not see them.' He will say: 'Go to the Fire, and whoever you find in it, bring him out.' They will find that the Fire has taken them according to their deeds. Some of them were taken by the Fire up to their feet, and some were taken up to their necks, but it did not cover their faces. They will bring them out and cast them into the Water of Life. It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the Water of Life?' He said: 'The washing of the people of Paradise.' Then they will sprout as the seed sprouts in the debris of a flood. Then the prophets will intercede for whoever used to testify that there is no god but Allah, sincerely. Then Allah will show compassion with His mercy to those who are in it, and He will not leave in it any servant who has the weight of a grain of faith in his heart, except that He will bring him out of it."
حدثنا عبد الأعلى بن عبد الأعلى عن محمد بن إسحاق قال حدثني عبيد الله بن المغيرة عن سليمان بن عمرو بن عبد العتواري جد بني ليث وكان في حجر أبي سعيد الخدري عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال سمعته يقول سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول يوضع الصراط بين ظهراني جهنم عليه حسك كحسك السعدان ثم يستجيز الناس فناج مسلم ومخدوج به ثم ناج محتبس به ومنكوس فيه فاذا فرغ الله من القضاء بين العباد يفقد المؤمنون رجالا كانوا في الدنيا كانوا يصلون صلاتهم ويزكون زكاتهم ويصومون صيامهم ويحجون حجهم ويغزون غزوهم فيقولون أي ربنا عباد من عبادك كانوا معنا في الدنيا يصلون صلاتنا ويزكون زكاتنا ويصومون صيامنا ويغزون غزونا لا نراهم قال فيقول اذهبوا إلى النار فمن وجدتم فيها فأخرجوه منها فيجدون قد أخذتهم النار على قدر أعمالهم فمنهم من أخذته إلى قدميه ومنهم من أخذته إلى عنقه ولم يغش الوجه فيطرحونهم في ماء الحياة قيل يا رسول الله وما ماء الحياة قال غسل أهل الجنة فينبتون كما تنبت الزريعة في غثاء السيل ثم يشفع الأنبياء فيمن كان يشهد أن لا إله إلا الله مخلصا ثم يتحنن الله برحمته على من فيها فما يترك فيها عبدا في قلبه مثقال حبة من الايمان إلا أخرجه منها
