Hadith 29:11
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Mujalid informed us, he said: 'Amir informed us, he said: Khalid wrote to the Marzbans (governors) of Persia while he was in al-Hira, and he handed it to Ibn Buqayla. 'Amir said: And I read it at the place of Ibn Buqayla: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Khalid ibn al-Walid to the Marzbans of Persia. Peace be upon those who follow the guidance. I praise to you Allah, other than whom there is no god. To proceed: I praise Allah who has dispersed your service, divided your word, weakened your might, and stripped you of your kingdom. So when this letter of mine reaches you, send me the hostages, accept the covenant of protection from me, and respond with the jizya (tribute). If you do not do so, then by Allah, other than whom there is no god, I shall certainly march toward you with a people who love death as you love life. And peace be upon those who follow the guidance.
حدثنا أبو أسامة قال أخبرنا مجالد قال أخبرنا عامر قال كتب خالد إلى مرازبة فارس وهو بالحيرة ودفعه إلى بن بقيلة قال عامر وأنا قرأته عند بن بقيلة بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم من خالد بن الوليد إلى مرازبة فارس سلام على من أتبع الهدى فإني أحمد إليكم الله الذي لا إله إلا هو أما بعد أحمد الله الذي فض خدمتكم وفرق كلمتكم ووهن بأسكم وسلب ملككم فإذا جاءكم كتابي هذا فابعثوا إلي بالرهن واعتقدوا مني الذمة وأجيبوا إلى الجزية فإن لم تفعلوا فوالله الذي لا إله إلا هو لأسيرن إليكم بقوم يحبون الموت كحبكم الحياة والسلام على من اتبع الهدى
