Hadith 29:16
'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Asim, from Abu Wa'il, that Khalid ibn al-Walid wrote: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Khalid ibn al-Walid to Rustam, Mihran, and the nobles of Persia. Peace be upon those who follow the guidance. I praise to you Allah, other than whom there is no god. To proceed: I offer Islam to you. If you acknowledge it, then you have what the people of Islam have, and upon you is what is upon the people of Islam. If you refuse, then I offer you the jizya. If you acknowledge the jizya, then you have what the people of the jizya have, and upon you is what is upon the people of the jizya. And if you refuse, then I have with me men who love fighting just as the Persians love wine."
حدثنا عفان قال ثنا حماد بن سلمة عن عاصم عن أبي وائل أن خالد بن الوليد كتب بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم من خالد بن الوليد إلى رستم ومهران وملأ فارس سلام على من اتبع الهدى فإني أحمد إليكم الله الذي لا إله إلا هو أما بعد فإني أعرض عليكم الإسلام فإن أقررتم به فلكم ما لأهل الإسلام وعليكم ما على أهل الإسلام وإن أبيتم فإني أعرض عليكم الجزية فإن أقررتم بالجزية فلكم ما لأهل الجزية وعليكم ما على أهل الجزية وإن أبيتم فإن عندي رجالا يحبون القتال كما تحب فارس الخمر
