Hadith 29:197
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Al-Hajjaj ibn Abi Zaynab informed us, he said: I heard Abu Uthman al-Nahdi saying: We were in the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era) worshipping a stone. Then we heard a caller calling out: "O people of the caravans, your lord has perished, so seek a lord." He said: So we went out on every difficult and easy [mount]. While we were like that, searching, we were suddenly with a caller calling out: "We have found your lord," or something similar. He said: So we came, and it was a stone, and we slaughtered camels upon it.
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا الحجاج بن أبي زينب قال سمعت أبا عثمان النهدي يقول كنا في الجاهلية نعبد حجرا فسمعنا مناديا ينادي يا أهل الرحال إن ربكم قد هلك فالتمسوا ربا قال فخرجنا على كل صعب وذلول فبينا نحن كذلك نطلب إذا نحن بمناد ينادي إنا قد وجدنا ربكم أو شبهة قال فجئنا فإذا حجر فنحرنا عليه الجزر
