Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, Hanash ibn al-Harith narrated to us, he said: I saw Suwayd ibn Ghafala passing to a wife of his from Banu Asad, and he was one hundred and twenty-seven years old. Forty-four [years] in the reign of Mu'awiyah. Al-Abbas died in the reign of Uthman. Ibn Mas'ud died at the end of the reign of Uthman. Hudhayfah died when the news of the killing of Uthman arrived. Jabir ibn Zayd and Anas ibn Malik died in the month of Jumada in the year ninety-three. Ibn Umar died in the year seventy-three. Aisha and al-Hasan ibn Ali died in the year fifty-three. Amr ibn Hurayth died in the year eighty-five. Al-Husayn ibn Ali was killed in the year sixty-one on the day of Ashura, and Sinan ibn Anas al-Nakha'i al-Mawsili—may Allah curse him—killed him and brought his head to Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad. Ibn al-Zubayr was killed in the year seventy-three. Ibn al-Hanafiyyah died in the year eighty. Ibn Abbas passed away in the year sixty-eight. Shurayh died in the year seventy-six. Ali ibn al-Husayn died in the year ninety-two. Abu Ja'far died in the year one hundred and fourteen. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib died in the year ninety-three. Musa ibn Talhah died in the year one hundred and six. Abu Burdah and al-Sha'bi died in the year one hundred and four. Abu Burdah died while he was over eighty years old. Sa'id ibn Jubayr was killed in the year ninety-five. Ibrahim died in the year ninety-six. Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz died in the year one hundred and one. Al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin died in the year one hundred and ten. Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd died in the time of Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik. Mujahid died in the year one hundred and two. Al-Dahhak died in the year one hundred and five. Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi died in the year one hundred and eight. Talhah al-Yami died in the year one hundred and twelve. Zubayd died in the year one hundred and twenty-two. Salamah died in the year one hundred and twenty-one. Mansur died in the year one hundred and thirty-two. Qatadah and Nafi' died in the year one hundred and seventeen. Al-Hakam died in the year one hundred and fifteen. Abu Qays, Wasil, and Hammad died in the year one hundred and twenty. Abu Sakhrah died in the year one hundred and eighteen. Habib died in the year one hundred and nineteen. Amr ibn Murrah died in the year one hundred and seventeen. Ata' passed away in the year one hundred and fifteen. Mughirah died in the year one hundred and thirty-six. Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman and Hisham ibn Urwah died in the year one hundred and forty-five. Abu Ishaq and Jabir al-Ju'fi died in the year one hundred and twenty-eight. Mis'ar died in the year one hundred and fifty-five. Ali ibn Salih died in the year one hundred and fifty-four. Al-Thawri died in the year one hundred and sixty-one. Shu'bah died in the year one hundred and sixty. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq ruled for two years and a half, and he passed away in the twelfth year from the migration of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Umar ibn al-Khattab ruled for ten years and a half, and he was killed in the year twenty-three from the migration of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Uthman ibn Affan ruled for twelve years, and he was killed in the year thirty-five in Dhu al-Hijjah. Ali ruled for five years, and he was killed in the year forty from the migration of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the month of Ramadan, on the night of the twenty-first, a Friday; and he died on the night of Sunday. Mu'awiyah ruled for twenty years minus a little, and he died in the year sixty from the migration. Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah ruled for three years and a half. The strife of Ibn al-Zubayr lasted seven years. Marwan ibn al-Hakam ruled for about nine or ten months. Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan ruled for fourteen years. Al-Walid for nine. Sulayman and Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, each of them for two years and a half. Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik ruled for twenty years minus a month. Al-Walid ibn Yazid ruled for about two years. Yazid ibn al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik ruled for six months. Ibrahim ruled for forty nights. Marwan ibn Muhammad ibn Marwan ruled for five years, and he is the one from whom the rulers of the Banu Hashim took the Caliphate. Abu al-Abbas Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abbas ruled for four years and a half. Abu Ja'far, whose name is Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ali, ruled for twenty-two years. Al-Mahdi ruled for ten years. Musa ibn al-Mahdi ruled for one year and three months. Harun ruled for twenty-three years. Al-Ma'mun ruled for twenty-two years minus a month. Ibn Idris mentioned, he said: I asked Isra'il, "At what age did Abu Ishaq die?" He said: "He died at the age of ninety-six years, and al-Sha'bi was two years older than him." Talhah and al-Zubayr were killed in Rajab in the year thirty-six. Masruq died in the year sixty-three. Al-Aswad died in the year seventy-four. Ubaydah died in the year sixty-four. Alqamah ibn Qays died in the year sixty-two. Amr ibn Maymun died in the year seventy-five. Ibn 'Awn al-Thaqafi died in the year one hundred and fifty-one. Malik ibn Mighwal died in the year one hundred and fifty-nine, at the beginning of it. Isra'il died in the year one hundred and sixty. Qays ibn al-Rabi' and Ja'far al-Ahmar died in the year one hundred and sixty-seven. Sharik ibn Abdullah died in the year one hundred and seventy-seven. Mujahid ibn Jabr died in the year one hundred and two. Rib'i ibn Hirash died in the time of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz.
