Hadith 29:225
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Yunus, who said: When Sa‘id ibn al-Hasan passed away, al-Hasan grieved for him intensely. He was spoken to regarding that, so he said: "I have not heard that Allah blamed Ya‘qub for his grief." And al-Hasan said: When ‘Utbah ibn Mas‘ud passed away, Ibn Mas‘ud grieved for him. When he was spoken to regarding that, he said: "As for, by Allah, once He has decreed what He has decreed, I would not like to have called upon him and for him to have answered me."
حدثنا بن علية عن يونس قال لما توفي سعيد بن الحسن وجد عليه الحسن وجدا شديدا فكلم في ذلك فقال ما سمعت الله عاب على يعقوب الحزن وقال الحسن لما توفي عتبة بن مسعود وجد عليه بن مسعود فلما كلم في ذلك قال أما والله إذا قضى ما قضى ما أحب أني دعوته فأجابني
