Hadith 29:42
Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, he said: Hanash ibn al-Harith narrated to us, he said: I heard my father mentioning, he said: We arrived from Yemen and stayed in Medina. Umar came out to us and walked among the Nakha' and looked at them. He said: "O company of Nakha', I see nobility settled within you, so you must go to Iraq and the gatherings of Persia." We said: "O Commander of the Faithful, no, rather we desire the Levant (al-Sham) to migrate to it." He said: "No, rather Iraq, for I have chosen it for you." He said: Until some of us said: "O Commander of the Faithful, 'there is no compulsion in religion'." He said: "Then there is no compulsion in religion; you must go to Iraq." He said: "In it are the gatherings of the non-Arabs (al-Ajam)." We were two thousand and five hundred. He said: So we came to al-Qadisiyyah, and one man from the Nakha' was killed, and such and such number of men from the rest of the people—eighty. Umar said: "What is the matter with the Nakha' that they were struck from among all the other people? Did the people flee from them?" They said: "No, rather they were the ones who bore the greatest of the matter alone."
