Hadith 29:64
Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Hisham bin Sa’d narrated to us, from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, who said: Spoils from the spoils of Jalula were brought to Umar, in which there was gold and silver. He began distributing them among the people. Then a son of his, who was called Abd al-Rahman, came and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, clothe me with a ring." He said, "Go to your mother so she may give you a drink of *sawiq* (barley meal)." He said: By Allah, he did not give him anything.
حدثنا وكيع قال ثنا هشام بن سعد عن زيد بن اسلم عن أبيه قال أتي عمر بغنائم من غنائم جلولاء فيها ذهب وفضة فجعل يقسمها بين الناس فجاء بن له يقال له عبد الرحمن فقال يا أمير المؤمنين اكسني خاتما فقال اذهب إلى أمك تسقيك شربة من سويق قال فوالله ما أعطاه شيئا
