Hadith 29:65
Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn Sa’d narrated to us, he said: Zayd ibn Aslam narrated from his father, who said: I heard ‘Abdullah ibn al-Arqam, the keeper of the treasury of the Muslims, say to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab: "O Commander of the Faithful, we have ornaments from the ornaments of Jalula and vessels of gold and silver, so give your opinion regarding them." He said: "When you see me free, come to me." He came one day and said: "I see you are free today, O Commander of the Faithful." He said: "Spread a leather mat for me on the bridge." So he spread a leather mat for him. Then he brought that wealth and poured it onto it. He came and stood over it, then said: "O Allah, You mentioned this wealth and said: 'Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire—of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver.' And You said: 'So that you may not grieve for what has escaped you, nor rejoice in what has been given to you.' O Allah, we cannot but rejoice in what You have beautified for us. O Allah, make me spend it in truth, and I seek refuge in You from its evil."
حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال حدثنا هشام بن سعد قال ثنا زيد بن اسلم عن أبيه قال سمعت عبد الله بن الأرقم صاحب بيت مال المسلمين يقول لعمر بن الخطاب يا أمير المؤمنين عندنا حلية من حلية جلولاء وآنية ذهب وفضة فرأى فيها رأيك فقال إذا رأيتني فارغا فأتني فجاء يوما فقال إني اراك اليوم فارغا يا امير المؤمنين قال ابسط لي نطعا في الجسر فبسط له [ نطعا ] ثم أتى بذلك المال فصب عليه فجاء فوقف عليه ثم قال اللهم إنك ذكرت هذا المال فقلت @QB@ زين للناس حب الشهوات من النساء والبنين والقناطير المقنطرة من الذهب والفضة @QE@ 1 وقلت @QB@ لكي لا تأسوا على ما فاتكم ولا تفرحوا بما آتاكم @QE@ 2 اللهم إنا لا نستطيع إلا أن نفرح بما زينت لنا اللهم فاجعلني أنفقه في حق واعوذ بك من شره
