Hadith 29:70
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, he said: Za'idah narrated to us, he said: 'Asim ibn Kulayb al-Jarmi narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me that news of Nahavand and Ibn Muqarrin was delayed for 'Umar, and that he was seeking victory [from Allah], and that the people thought from his seeking victory that he had no mention of Nahavand and Ibn Muqarrin. He said: Then a Bedouin came to them and said, "What has reached you regarding Nahavand and Ibn Muqarrin?" They said, "And what is that?" He said, "Nothing." He said: So it was conveyed to 'Umar. He said: So he sent for him and said, "What is your mention of Nahavand and Ibn Muqarrin? If you have brought news, then inform us." He said, "O Commander of the Faithful, I am so-and-so, son of so-and-so, al-'Allani. I set out with my family and my wealth, migrating to Allah and His Messenger, until we descended at such-and-such a place. When we departed, there was a man on a red camel, the like of which I had never seen. We said, 'From where have you come?' He said, 'From Iraq.' We said, 'What is the news of the people?' He said, 'They met, and Allah defeated the enemy, and Ibn Muqarrin was killed.' And by Allah, I do not know what Nahavand is, nor Ibn Muqarrin." 'Umar said, "Do you know which day of the week that was?" He said, "No, by Allah, I do not know." He said, "But I know." So he counted his stopping places. He said, "We departed on such-and-such a day, and we descended at such-and-such a place." He counted his stopping places. He said, "That was such-and-such a day of the week. Perhaps you met a courier from the couriers of the Jinn, for they have couriers." He said: Then time passed as Allah willed, and then the news came that they had met on that [very] day.
حدثنا معاوية بن عمرو قال حدثنا زائدة قال ثنا عاصم بن كليب الجرمي قال حدثني أبي أنه أبطأ على عمر خبر نهاوند وبن مقرن وأنه كان يستنصر وأن الناس كانوا يرون من استنصاره أنه لم يكن له ذكر نهاوند وبن مقرن قال فقدم عليهم أعرابي فقال ما بلغكم عن نهاوند وبن مقرن قالوا وما ذاك قال لا شيء قال فنمى إلى عمر قال فأرسل إليه فقال ما ذكرك نهاوند وبن مقرن فإن جئت بخبر فأخبرنا قال يا أمير المؤمنين أنا فلان بن فلان العلاني خرجت بأهلي ومالي مهاجرا إلى الله ورسوله حتى نزلنا موضع كذا وكذا فلما ارتحلنا إذا رجل على جمل أحمر لم ار مثله فقلنا من أين أقبلت قال من العراق قلنا فما خبر الناس قال التقوا فهزم الله العدو وقتل بن مقرن ولا أدري والله ما نهاوند ولا بن مقرن أتدري أي يوم ذلك من الجمعة قال لا والله ما أدري قال لكني أدري فعد منازله قال ارتحلنا يوم كذا وكذا فنزلنا موضع كذا وكذا فعد منازله قال ذاك يوم كذا وكذا من الجمعة ولعلك أن تكون لقيت بريدا من برد الجن فإن لهم بردا قال فمضى ما شاء الله ثم جاء الخبر بأنهم التقوا في ذلك اليوم
