Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 19:29

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Ubaydullah, from Nafi’, from Ibn Umar, who said: They used to steal whips on the road to Makkah. So Uthman said: "If you return to this, I will surely cut [the hand] for it."
