Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Humayd [ibn] Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Jarir ibn Hazim, from Isa ibn Asim, who said: A group of people went out on a journey and passed by a man, so they stayed with him. He divorced his wife three times. The group continued on their journey, then they returned and found him with her. They brought him to Shurayh and said: "This man divorced his wife three times, and we found him with her." He denied it. Shurayh said: "Do you testify that he is an adulterer?" They repeated it to him. He separated them and did not inflict the prescribed punishment (hadd) upon them, but he accepted their testimony.
