Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Jabir, from Abdullah ibn Yasar, he said: Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz was approached regarding a man who had stolen a chicken, and he intended to cut his hand. Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman said to him: Uthman said, "There is no cutting [of the hand] for [stealing] birds."
