Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 19:703

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from Ibn Abi Awfa: He said: I said to him, "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stone [an adulterer]?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Was it after Surah al-Nur was revealed, or before it?" He said, "I do not know."
