Hadith 19:709
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Uthman ibn Nasr, from his father, who said: I was among those who stoned Ma’iz. When he felt the touch of the stones, he said, "Return me to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." So I went to Asim ibn Umar, and he said: Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah said, "It has reached me," but I denied it. Then I went to Jabir and said, "The Aslami mentioned something regarding the words of Ma’iz ibn Malik: 'Return me,' but I denied it." He said, "I was among those who stoned him. He said, 'Return me to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, for my people have harmed me and said: Go to the Messenger of Allah, for he will not kill you.' But we did not desist from him until we killed him." When his affair was mentioned to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he said, "Why did you not leave him until I could look into his affair?"
