Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Shababa narrated to us, from Layth, from Nafi’, from Safiyya bint Abi ‘Ubayd, from her father, that he flogged a man who had intercourse with a virgin slave girl [and made her pregnant], and he confessed, and he had not been previously married (ghayr muhsan). So Abu Bakr ordered him, and he was flogged, then he was banished.
