Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Bashir ibn al-Muhajir narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Buraydah narrated to us, from his father, who said: The Ghamidiyyah woman came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery, and I want you to purify me." He turned her away. When the next day came, she said: "O Prophet of Allah, why do you turn me away? Perhaps you want to turn me away as you turned away Ma'iz ibn Malik? By Allah, I am pregnant." He said: "If you insist, then go until you give birth." When she gave birth, she brought the child to him in a rag and said: "This is what I have given birth to." He said: "Go and breastfeed him until you wean him." When she weaned him, she brought him to him, and in his hand was a piece of bread. She said: "O Prophet of Allah, I have weaned him, and he has eaten food." He handed the child to a man from the Muslims, then he ordered her, and a pit was dug for her up to her chest. He ordered the people, and they stoned her. Khalid ibn al-Walid came forward with a stone and threw it at her head, and blood splattered onto the face of Khalid ibn al-Walid. The Prophet of Allah heard him cursing her, so he said: "Gently, O Khalid ibn al-Walid! For by the One in Whose hand is my soul, she has repented a repentance such that if the collector of illegal taxes (sahib maks) had repented it, he would have been forgiven." Then he ordered her, and he prayed over her, and she was buried.
