Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from Isra’il, from Jabir, from ‘Amir and ‘Ata’: They both said: If he confesses to a prescribed punishment (hadd) for adultery or theft, then retracts it, the prescribed punishment is averted from him.
