Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq, he said: I witnessed Salim and al-Qasim, and the governor of Medina asked them about a man who said to another man, "O Fasiq (evildoer/sinner)." So they recited this verse: "If a Fasiq (disobedient person) comes to you with news, then verify it." And they both said: "The Fasiq is the liar; he is to be disciplined with lashes."
