Hadith 12:139
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan, regarding a man who struck game and severed a hand or a leg from it while it was alive, then it died. He said: He may eat it, but he may not eat what he severed from it, unless he strikes it and cuts it [in a way that] it dies from that [same] moment. If that is the case, then he may eat all of it.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا هشيم عن يونس عن الحسن في رجل ضرب صيدا فأبان منه يدا أو رجلا وهو حي ثم مات قال يأكله ولا ياكل ما أبان منه إلا أن يضربه فيقطعه فيموت من [ ساعته ] فإذا كان ذلك فليأكله كله
