Hadith 12:233
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Sa’id ibn Masruq, from ‘Abayah ibn Rifa’ah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we will meet the enemy tomorrow and we do not have knives." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Use whatever causes the blood to flow, and mention the name of Allah over it, then eat. [This applies] as long as it is not a tooth or a nail. And I will tell you about that: as for the tooth, it is a bone; and as for the nail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians."
