Hadith 12:327
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far al-Khatmi, who said: My maternal uncle, 'Abd al-Rahman, narrated to me, from my grandfather, 'Uqbah ibn Fakah, who said: I came to Zayd ibn Thabit at midday and asked for permission to enter upon him. He came out wearing an izar (waist-wrapper), with a stick in his hand. I said: "Where were you at this hour?" He replied: "I was pursuing this creature; Allah writes a good deed for killing it and erases a sin by it." He meant the gecko (al-wazagh).
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن أبي جعفر الخطمي قال حدثني خالي عبد الرحمن عن جدي عقبة بن فاكه قال أتيت زيد بن ثابت نصف النهار فاستأذنت عليه فخرج متزرا بيده عصى فقلت أين كنت في هذه الساعة كنت أتبع هذه الدابة يكتب الله بقتلها الحسنة ويمحو بها السيئة فاقتلها وهي الوزغ
