Hadith 12:356
Shababa narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from al-Harith, from Kurayb, from Usama, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he was overcome with sadness. We said, "What is the matter with you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Gabriel, peace be upon him, promised to come to me, but he has not come to me for three days." He said, "Then a dog took shelter." Usama said, "So I placed my hand on my head and shouted." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began to say, "What is the matter with you, O Usama?" I said, "A dog took shelter." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered its killing, and it was killed.
