Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 26:1

Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, who said: Abdullah said: Whoever learns the Quran, let him learn the laws of inheritance (al-fara'id). And let him not be like a man whom a Bedouin met and said to him: "Are you a Muhajir (emigrant), O servant of Allah?" He says: "Yes." Then he says: "Indeed, some of my family has died and left such and such." If he knows it, he teaches him what Allah has given him. But if he does not know it well, he says: "Then by what do you excel over us, O company of the Muhajirin?"
