'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, who said: I asked al-Sha'bi about a brother's daughter and a paternal aunt: which of them is more entitled to the inheritance? He said: The brother's daughter. He said: Place them in the positions of their fathers.
