Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Khalid, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, who said: Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad wanted to grant an inheritance to the sister from the mother along with the grandfather, and he said: "Umar had granted an inheritance to the sister along with him." Ubayd Allah ibn Utbah said: "I am neither a Saba'i nor a Haruri, so follow the tradition (athar), for you will not miss the path as long as you are upon the tradition."
