Hadith 26:222

Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Bassam, from Fudayl, from Ibrahim, regarding a man who left behind his daughter, his sister (from both father and mother), and his grandfather: The daughter receives one-half, and the grandfather receives one-sixth, and what remains is for the sister, according to the opinion of Ali, for he would not increase the grandfather’s share with the child beyond one-sixth. According to the opinion of Abdullah, the daughter receives one-half, and what remains is divided between the sister and the grandfather. If there are two sisters, then what remains is between the two sisters and the grandfather, according to the opinion of Abdullah and Zayd. According to the opinion of Ali, the grandfather receives one-sixth, and his two sisters receive what remains. If there are three sisters with the daughter and the grandfather, the daughter receives one-half, the grandfather receives two-fifths of what remains, and the sisters receive three-fifths, according to the opinion of Abdullah and Zayd. Abu Bakr said: This, according to the opinion of Ali, is out of six shares. According to the opinion of Abdullah and Zayd, it is out of ten shares: five for the daughter, two shares for the grandfather, and for the sisters, one share each.
