Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Isma’il narrated to us, from al-Sha’bi, from ‘Abdullah ibn Mu’qal, he said: I have not seen a judgment after the judgment of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, better than a judgment that Mu’awiyah passed regarding the People of the Book. He said: We inherit from them, and they do not inherit from us, just as it is lawful for us to marry among them, but it is not lawful for them to marry among us.
