Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 26:547

'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "If a man forms a bond of alliance (wala') with another man, then he has his inheritance and he bears his blood money (diya)."
