Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 26:553

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Hisham informed us, from Ibn Sirin, that a man embraced Islam at the hands of Abu al-Hudhayl, then he died and left behind ten thousand dirhams. Abu al-Hudhayl brought them to Ziyad. Ziyad said, "You are more entitled to them." He replied, "I have no need for them." Ziyad said, "You are his heir." He refused, so Ziyad took them and placed them in the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal).
