'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us, from Abu Bakr ibn Ahmar, from 'Abdullah ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) when a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have the inheritance of a man from the Azd, and I have not found an Azdi to whom I may deliver it." He said: "Go and seek an Azdi for a year or a cycle, then deliver it to him." He said: So he went, then he came to him in the seventh year and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not find an Azdi to whom I may deliver it." He said: "Go to the first Khuza'i and deliver it to him." He said: When he turned away, he said: "Bring him to me." He said: "Go and deliver it to the greatest of the Khuza'ah."
