'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from Hammad ibn Salama, from Qatada, that a woman gifted the *wala'* (patronage rights) of her freed slaves to her husband. Hisham ibn Hubayra said: "As for me, I see it as belonging to her husband as long as he lives. Then, when he dies, I would return it to the heirs of the woman."
