Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 26:598

Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Arubah, from Abu Ma'shar, from Ibrahim, who said: Whoever emancipates [a slave] at the time of death, or embraces Islam at the time of death, there is no right for either of them, because the rights became obligatory at the time of death.
