Hadith 11:103
Waki’ narrated to us, from Sa’id ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz, from ‘Alqama ibn Shihab, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever does not reach the military expedition with me, let him conduct a military expedition at sea, for the military expedition at sea is better than two military expeditions on land. And the martyr of the sea has the reward of two martyrs of the land." "Indeed, the best of the martyrs in the sight of Allah are the 'Ashab al-Wukuf (the people of the capsizing ships)." They said: "O Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and what are the 'Ashab al-Wukuf?" He said: "A people whose ships capsize with them in the way of Allah."
حدثنا وكيع عن سعيد بن عبد العزيز عن علقمة بن شهاب قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من لم يدرك الغزو معي فليغز في البحر فإن غزو البحر أفضل من غزوتين في البر وإن شهيد البحر له أجر شهيدي البر إن أفضل الشهداء عند الله أصحاب الوكوف قالوا يا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وما أصحاب الوكوف قال قوم تكفأهم مراكبهم في سبيل الله
