Hadith 11:126
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Abu Hilal informed us, Muhammad ibn Sirin narrated, he said: The cavalry of the polytheists raided the grazing livestock of Medina. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went out, and Abu Qatadah came while he had combed his hair. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "I see that your hair has held you back." He said: "I will surely bring you a man who is safe." He said: And they used to like to let their hair grow long.
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنا أبو هلال نا محمد بن سيرين قال غارت خيل للمشركين على سرح المدينة فخرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وجاء أبو قتادة وقد رجل شعره فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إني لأرى شعرك حبسك فقال لاتينك برجل سلم قال وكانوا يستحبون أن يوفروا شعورهم
