Hadith 11:131
'Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, who said: Abu Salam al-Dimashqi narrated to me, from Khalid ibn Zayd, who said: I was a man who practiced archery. 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir would pass by me and say: "O Khalid, come out with us to practice archery." When one day I was slow to join him, he said: "O Khalid, come, I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Indeed, Allah admits three people into Paradise for a single arrow: the one who makes it, seeking reward in its making; the one who shoots it; and the one who hands it to him.'" And there is no amusement except in three things: a man training his horse, his playing with his wife, and his shooting with his bow and arrows. And whoever abandons archery after having learned it, it is a blessing he has abandoned, or he has shown ingratitude for it.
