Hadith 11:153
Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Layth ibn Sa'd, from Abu Aqil, from Abu Salih, the freed slave of Uthman ibn Affan, that Uthman said upon the pulpit: "O Muslims, I heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) which I kept from you, disliking that it might separate you from me. I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: 'A day of guarding in the way of Allah is better than guarding for a thousand days in other places.' So let every man choose for himself what he wishes."
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق عن ليث بن سعد عن أبي عقيل عن أبي صالح مولى عثمان بن عفان عن عثمان أنه قال على المنبر أيها المسلمون سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حديثا كتمتكموه كراهية أن يفرقكم عني سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول رباط يوم في سبيل الله خير من رباط ألف يوم فيما سواه من المنازل فليخير كل امرئ لنفسه ما شاء
