Hadith 11:157
Abu Usama narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, who said: Khalid ibn Ma'dan narrated to us, saying: I heard Abu Umamah and Jubayr ibn Nufayr saying: "A time will come upon the people when the best of Jihad is *Ribat* (stationing at the frontier)." I said: "And what is that?" They said: "When military expeditions become difficult, debts increase, and spoils of war are deemed lawful, then the best of Jihad at that time is *Ribat*."
حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر قال نا خالد بن معدان قال سمعت أبا امامة وجبير بن نفير يقولان يأتي على الناس زمان أفضل الجهاد الرباط فقلت وما ذلك فقال إذا أطاط الغزو وكثرت الغرائم واستحلت الغنائم فأفضل الجهاد يؤمئذ الرباط
