Hadith 11:179
Waki’ narrated to us, [who said] al-Rabi’ narrated to us, from al-Hasan, who said: A man said to Umar, "O best of people!" He said, "I am not the best of people. Shall I not inform you of the best of people?" He said, "Yes, O Commander of the Faithful." He said, "A man from the people of the desert who has a small herd of camels and sheep, who brought them to a city from among the cities, then sold them, then spent them in the way of Allah, and he was between the Muslims and their enemy. That is the best of people."
حدثنا وكيع نا الربيع عن الحسن قال قال رجل لعمر يا خير الناس قال لست بخير الناس ألا أخبرك بخير الناس قال بلى يا أمير المؤمنين قال رجل من أهل البادية له صرمة من إبل وغنم أتى بها مصرا من أمصار فباعها ثم أنفقها في سبيل الله وكان بين المسلمين وبين عدوهم فذلك خير الناس
