Hadith 11:196
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, [saying] al-Awam informed us, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, who said: The souls of the martyrs are in green birds that roam in Paradise and take shelter in lanterns hanging from the Throne. Then your Lord manifests to them and says, "Ask Me," three times. He says it, and they say, "Our Lord, we ask You to return us to the world so that we may be killed in Your cause another time."
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنا العوام عن إبراهيم التيمي قال أرواح الشهداء في طير خضر تسرح في الجنة وتأوي إلى قناديل معلقة في العرش فيطلع إليهم ربك فيقول سلوني ثلاثا يقولها فيقولون ربنا نسألك أن تردنا إلى الدنيا فنقتل في سبيلك قتلة أخرى
