Hadith 11:207
Shababa narrated to us, Layth ibn Sa’d narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, from Abu al-Khattab, from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, that he said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, addressed the people in the year of Tabuk while his back was leaning against a palm tree. He said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of people and the worst of people? Indeed, among the best of people is a man who carries [his weapon] in the way of Allah upon the back of his horse, or the back of his camel, or on his own feet, until death comes to him. And indeed, among the worst of people is a wicked man who reads the Book of Allah but does not refrain from anything of it."
حدثنا شبابة نا ليث بن سعد عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن أبي الخير عن أبي الخطاب عن أبي سعيد الخدري أنه قال أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم خطب الناس عام تبوك وهو مسند ظهره إلى نخلة فقال ألا أخبركم بخير الناس وشر الناس إن من خير الناس رجلا يحمل في سبيل الله على ظهر فرسه أو ظهر بعيره أو على قدمه حتى يأتيه الموت وإن من شر الناس رجلا فاجرا يقرأ كتاب الله لا يرعوي إلى شيء منه
