Hadith 11:222

Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, Hisham ibn Sa’d narrated to us, he said: Qays ibn Bishr al-Taghlibi narrated to me, he said: My father was a companion of Abu al-Darda’ in Damascus. There was a man in Damascus from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) who was called Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah from the Ansar. The man was a recluse; he rarely sat with people. He would only pray, and when he finished, he would only engage in glorifying Allah (tasbih) and declaring His oneness (tahlil) until he returned to his family. One day, he passed by us while we were with Abu al-Darda’, and he greeted us. Abu al-Darda’ said to him, "Say a word that will benefit us and not harm you." He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "You are going to visit your brothers, so fix your mounts and fix your clothing until you are like a beauty mark (shama) among the people, for Allah does not love indecency or the acting of indecency."
