Hadith 11:224
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn Sirin, who said: It was written to ‘Umar regarding the *ju‘alah* (stipulated reward for a task): "I do not sell my share of the *jihad*, and I do not go on a military expedition on behalf of another."
