Hadith 11:256
Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Dawud said to me, "I said to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, 'I know that military expedition (ghazw) is obligatory upon all people.' He said: So he remained silent." He said: He then said, "I knew that if he disapproved of what I said, he would have clarified it to me. So I said to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, 'I prepared myself, and nothing urged me except that, until I stationed myself at the frontier (ribat).' He said: 'I have taken [this information] from you.'"
حدثنا محمد بن بكر عن بن جريج قال لي داود قلت لسعيد بن المسيب قد أعلم أن الغزو لواجب على الناس أجمعين قال فسكت قال فقال قد علمت لو أنكر ما قلت لبين لي فقلت لسعيد بن المسيب تجهزت لا ينهزني إلا ذلك حتى رابطت قال قد أخذت عنك
