Hadith 11:83
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abdullah ibn Murrah, from Masruq, who said: I asked Ibn Mas'ud about this verse: "And do not think of those who have been killed in the way of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision." He said: As for us, we have already asked about that, and he said: Their souls are like green birds that roam in Paradise, then they take shelter in lamps hanging from the Throne. While they are like that, your Lord looks upon them with a look and says: "Ask Me what you wish." They say: "O our Lord, and what shall we ask You, while we roam in Paradise wherever we wish?" He said: While they are like that, their Lord looks upon them with a look and says: "Ask Me what you wish." They say: "O our Lord, and what shall we ask You, while we roam in Paradise wherever we wish?" He said: While they are like that, their Lord looks upon them with a look and says: "Ask Me what you wish." They say: "O our Lord, what shall we ask You, while we roam in Paradise wherever we wish?" He said: When they saw that they would not be left alone from being asked, they said: "We ask You to return our souls into our bodies to the world so that we may be killed in Your way." He said: When He saw that they would not ask for anything else, He left them.
حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن عبد الله بن مرة عن مسروق قال سألت بن مسعود عن هذه الآية @QB@ ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا بل أحياء عند ربهم يرزقون @QE@ 2 فقال أما إنا قد سألنا عن ذلك فقال أرواحهم كطير خضر تسرح في الجنة ثم تأوي إلى قناديل معلقة بالعرش فبينما هم كذلك إذا اطلع عليهم ربك اطلاعة فقال سلوني ماذا شئتم فقالوا يا ربنا وماذا نسألك ونحن نسرح في الجنة في أيها شئنا قال فبينما هم كذلك إذ اطلع عليهم ربهم اطلاعة فقال سلوني ما شئتم فقالوا يا ربنا وماذا نسألك ونحن نسرح في الجنة في أيها شئنا قال فبينما هم كذلك إذ اطلع عليهم ربهم اطلاعة فقال سلوني ما شئتم فقالوا يا ربنا ماذا نسألك ونحن نسرح في الجنة في أيها شئنا قال فلما رأوا أنهم لا يتركون من أن يسألوا قالوا نسألك أن ترد أرواحنا في أجسادنا إلى الدنيا حتى نقتل في سبيلك قال فلما رأى أنهم لا يسألون إلا هذا تركهم
